Well I got two free MicroATX towers from where I go to school. They were going in the trash, so they went home with me instead.

And I've been wanting to identical cases to do a Fire & Ice theme mod set for a while. This isn't going to be anything too crazy. Just some easy modding to make the cases look nicer smile.gif

That's what they basically look like. I already have the sides pulled off and the really nice swinging mobo tray pulled out.

And a mockup of the side for cutting. I drew the square upside down... Wanted the break at the top at first, but I kinda like it at the bottom after I did it. Might have enough room to mount a few fans down there or something... I should be working on it more today, so I'll post more as I get it done. The pics should be small enough in size and file size for easy loading, let me know if their too big.

OMG, that is awesome! Congrats. I can't wait to see the progress pictures, the name alone inspires visions of grandeur in my mind smile.gif

I am guessing red and blue?

Keep us posted

Going to be a bit more interesting than just red and blue. Friend of mine is a top notch artist so I'm going to turn parts over to him to paint things on after I get basecoats and all on them. Known him for about 10 years so if I tell him the theme and some vague ideas I know It'll be awesome.

As for more work. The 3" hole saw and 3/16" drill bits are you friends wink.gif Make perfect 80mm fan holes. And since the cases only have one fan in the front I decided to add some more with that space on the bottom.

I know a lot of people dremel or jigsaw their fan holes, but using a hole saw gives almost a laser like cut. Very clean... Now I should have used the jigsaw for the window instead of the dremel... But didn't feel like going out again to get blades for it. rolleyes.gif

Want to do something to the front, but I'm not sure what... Not sure if I should just put a fan hole or remove a bit more of it... Suggestions?

How about a turbine intake fan area? Sort of like here: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y165/Defy...TS/DSCF1870.jpg

I know that will prob quite a bit of work (since whatever you do you have to do it twice) but it would look sharp with red and blue respectively.

Are you planning on using any trim on the holes and/or window cutout? Just wondering...

You got me anticipating the finishes now smile.gif

I thought about doing something like that turbine. But I don't think it would fit the whole style of the mods. Not trying for a technoised feel, more of a fantasy feel. I need to do some of my bad sketches to get some ideas down for paint...

The fans will have grills of some sort to keep stuff in my car / house / friends pets/houses out of the fan blades. I'm planing on using some EL wire to frame the window in as I really don't like how gaskets look.

I think I'm going to cut out most of the front and replace it with some of the tight hole pattern AC Ryan mesh. It'll let lighting / airflow through as well as give me a paintable surface that I can attach other things to.

How about one of those fake fire things? It's cloth being blown by air. Put a crossflow fan at the bottom of the case and have the clothe at the bottom of your window. The fire side will have fire!

Not for this mod... Though it could be put to cool effect in a case for sure. I'm going to be frosting most of the window I cut in it. It's just there to let the glow out mainly wink.gif

However my next series of mods are going to be HTPC cases. And unlike many, I don't feel that my HTPC should look like a computer. So their being made to look like furnature, curios and other things that you would never expect to be a computer. Perhaps I'll have a use for something like that in one of those....

And that giant is totally amazing... Totally crazy expensive too...
