I've been trying to get the clips off my OCZ memory for the last half an hour without any luck at all. There's no space at all to fit anything strong enough to push the clip out. Razor blades don't do a thing because they bend, and an exacto knife would just break off. Has anyone been successful removing the clips off those 2 GB platinum kits?

EDIT: Figured out how to get them off.

why do you want to remove the IHS from your memory?

(voids the warranty and won't give you any more or less cooling...certainly not enough to justify voiding the warranty)

eh you gone loco?
passive cooling perhaps? extreme water cooling project?

If your looking for what kind of chips your ram uses, im sure there are many many people who can enlighten you.

The warranty is basically already void on one of them now, because the thermal tape doesn't really make proper contact with the chips anymore after I separated it from the heatspreader. I'd rather remove it on this one than keep it on. I don't really mind voiding it anyway, because I don't plan on sending these in for RMA.

Try a fine flathead screwdriver to pop clips and the reason i removed mine is cuz of two of these

Hair dryer on high heat helps to loosen up any of the sticky stuff still holding it on.

The sticky stuff isn't a problem; the clips are. Even with a 1.4mm flathead screwdriver, there just isn't enough space between the clip and the spreader for me to pop the clip out.

Can you cut it with something?
