Heat-pipe cooler i used here is Zalman ZM50-HP :

Temps idle/full : 44/49 C, w/o fan, case open with ambient temp ~28-29 C

Gains : one fan less inside and i'm able to insert ANY size of PCI-E vga i wish, in both pci-e slots (SLI).
Downside is i can not use all of sata, but lower 2 normaly and upper right (sata2 conn) only
with 90deg sata cabel.
But i don't need all four sata connectors, thus it's not trully a downside for me:cool:

What were your chipset temps prior to the mod?

It looks like you'll need an awfully big case as that heatpipe shoots out the back a good amount. Seems easier just to go with active cooling. But i guess there are those that must have quiet.

if i can remember correctly, with orig dfi turbine, they were...i don't know for sure...4-5 C lower.
but i was done this mod 3 months ago...

I have chieftec CX series tower, big roomy case and quiet is on 2nd place for me.
All on air is 1st.
Case is mometarily under moding...
