True dat!
jumpman
Its called dark blade, and i think it took like 2 years to build that thing.
Cuttlefish1212
What I want to know is how (or who) bankrolled that thing?! I'm guessing 10-15K?
WintersFury
Well it appeared that the guy making it was a machinist. And if your company lets you use the equipment afterhours, then that just cut out a lot of the cost. So if the guy was making it for himself then the cost wouldn't be quite that insane.
eelemus
but the labor and time....and the knowledge to do it right......it is definetly a masterpiece...as there are others out there, this 1 ranks with the BEST of them

While pushing things to the limit and overclocking may be artwork, you have to admire the artwork and talent that went into that.

So, I just spent the last three hours of my existenece reading that entire thread.

It was worth it.
Cuttlefish1212
Doesn't it look like a computer you might find on a Romulan Warbird? Or a Klingon Bird of Prey?

Now the real question:

Owning that computer or an evening with Salma Hayek?? biggrin.gif
soundx98
That's Ferrengi for sure and Selma FTW
Thraxz
Owning the computer....
cmay119
I'd probably spend the evening with Selma, talking about this sweet CNC milled case I just saw on a bit-tech.net thread. She of course would be enthused the entire time. wink.gif
mihkail
i'd take Selma, i dont really care about how the computer looks as much as it performs and the functionality. girls though, are another story...
Angry_Games
ya i gotta say Selma since my computer may not look like that but my computer doesn't need to look like that...and i could always have something cool like that built for me but ya can't just roll out of bed with Selma Hayek on a regular basis n all....

Let's hope Momma doesn't catch wind of this thread. *quickly goes and PM's HG's reply to Momma*

After all, a computer can only make you so happy (or so I hope)...

boo
Bobyboy101
what a wonderful waste of 3 hours or so but dam that was well spent and wow.
dr_bowtie
I read them tooo...

Those are awesome builds... wow...

I like that Dark Blade build...I want it...I just dont want the price tag with it...wink.gif

Salma Hayek is getting a little up in years for my liking, but I would certainly take an evening with Goto Maki or Yoko Kumada instead. Or perhaps Keeley Hazell. biggrin.gif

Actually I could probably think of a hundred girls. Mandy Moore, Misa Campo... But that's neither here nor there. wink.gif

In fact I'd still take any girl I'd normally go out with otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome looking case, but let's consider a few things:

Would you rather have that case with a 533MHz Celeron, or would you rather have an FX-60 with no case? This is assuming you can't upgrade of course.

I definitely wouldn't say no if someone wanted to give me that case, but I'd much rather design and build my own, which is why I am. I'm pretty much surrounded in things I've built as it is.

It's probably the nicest case I've ever seen, but I'll let whoever owns it keep it and I'll take all teh girls. wink.gif

I would take the case over Salma though. smile.gif
ReelFiles
While I don't think it's the best looking case in the world, or most functional, I do think that the amount of work that went into it is second to none. I wonder what the final cost is, I was expecting him to at least give a ballpark number after 90 pages. My favorite part is the liquid cooling section.

Been reading that thread since the day it was started. Pretty much check it 1-2 times a day. I love all of his work.

Yeah but if he quite his job he wouldn't have good equipment to use, and no way the Discovery Channel is gonna foor the bill for all the stuff he'd need. smile.gif

Though it'd be awesome if they would...but we wouldn't even see all the months of planning that goes into designing such a thing. He had to be working on that for nearly a year before it was all planned out and ready to be built.
cull
im SURE he can find a backer if he jsut showed of the current godly case
Polizei
He would have to show off a few... maybe he can get the sponsorship of Falcon NW or Voodoo or some other company like that.

now tats some sexy asss..............

but ill take Salma's ass any day....... smile.gif
Cuttlefish1212
It would be cool to have a modding show for geeks...but I'm afraid the audience is just too small.

I forgot which site it was at, but there was a custom mod made to look like H.R. Giger's work. It was wicked and the guy who did it had a complete tutorial on how he got it done. I wish I could remember the site sad.gif
Redbeaver
they combine that wit LANparties these days..... but the audience is probably not as small as u think......... wink.gif

try bit-tech.net and gideontech.com...ussualy those 2 sites have lotsa people mod their pc... and link to other sites.........
General Septem
Perhaps it would get a bigger audience if it were hosted by Salma Hayek. biggrin.gif

ModTheMachine TV Show article;
http://www.gideontech.com/content/articles/278/1

Check out the hostess and the sponsors, this might actually work.
http://www.modthemachine.com/theshow/index.html

"...The idea is to bring 6 up and coming mod builder together from all around the US and Canada to compete for a way cool prize package from such sponsors as BOBLBE*E, CrazyPC, ASUS, Dremel and more as well as bragging rights.

Each episode will showcase 6 builder working in 2 teams for the right to be called best builder team and claim the prizes. Once they are on set our hostess will present each team with an ASUS motherboard, ASUS video card, AMD CPU, Corsair RAM, and a small stack of MOD money that they can spend to add to, or upgrade their mod. Then they will be told them what the theme for the build will be. Now it is off to watch the chips fly as 3 mod builder try and agree on one design.

During the show we will teach the viewers about a simple mod that just about anyone can do at home with very little risk and cost. We will also quiz and test the teams in a variety of ways that will hopefully help the viewers become better educated about PC's but at the same time allow the teams to earn more MOD Money that they can spend in the MTM Store.

When time is up, the teams must have a fully functional PC ready for judging. There will be three judges, one PC tech, one Artist, and one everyday person. One of the judges may be a representative from the company sponsoring that shows theme.

A lot of people have asked what the themes will be. We are not telling the theme sponsors for a few reason, but the main reason is we do not want any of the possible contestants pre-planning the build..."
Cuttlefish1212
Well I'll be damned...Salma FTW!!! biggrin.gif

LOL, I am spoiled, those are mediums at best.

Nice pic though wink.gif
General Septem
A good size, but not what I'd call big. Probably on par with Yoko Kumada maybe. biggrin.gif
