Hi,

I have been looking through the street tutorials on how to mod the DFI Ultra D to SLI. I have heard that they have prevented this from happening etc with the drivers and stopping it from working

My question is. Can i mod this to SLI or not?

I have the motherboard on me so i can provide assistance with REV numbers etc. (Bought it recently)

Thanks

As far as I know they can't stop the mod with driver's because it is a hardware mod. The driver see's it as an sli board. I don't have an answer about whether or not the latest revision's have made any changes but the last I heard they just added more cover to the spot you cut away.

Once more for clarity.

If you perform the mod and complete the circuit indicated on the chipset, you will have an honest to goodness SLI chipset.

There is no way for any driver to tell the difference since the mod is the same as what nVidia would do at their packaging facility.

Any driver installed will see the chipset as an SLI chipset. This has been confirmed all the way back to the 68.XX drivers through the current drivers.

The board will perform exactly the same as any X8 SLI board with the jumpers in the SLI position.

There are two DFI versions of the SLI bridge. One for the slots in the position of the DFI Lanparty nF4 boards and another with the spacing increased like the nF4 Expert board.

There is another SLI bridge available with a flexible connector that will fit either board.

This was the last post in the mod to sli thread so he has already answered it I guess. Posted on 9/19 so revision shouldn't matter.
edit-OBA are you telling him no it won't work or no it can't be stopped by driver's?

If you read through the post, you would know there is no way to prevent it with drivers / software.

This is incorrect information spread by evil doers. The chipset mod is hardware level and once done, the chipset becomes an SLI chipset. The chipset is recognized as an SLI chipset by the BIOS. You will verify this when you reboot and are greeted with "NF4 SLI". No driver can detect or alter this.

Trust me.

Well if this is here I might as well ask.Could DFI sell me a bridge?I can't find one and I don't have e-bay or paypal to buy from.

Check your PM.

DFI will not sell a bridge for an Ultra-D.

Why is that?If I pay for it....

You can try, but if they find out it is for an ultra-D they won't do it. The Ultra-D does not support SLI and modding it to do so voids the warranty. If they ask for the serial number of the board....

Buy a flex bridge from ebay and save yourself some grief. It's probably cheaper as well and you may be able to make payment arrangements with the seller.

Agreed.

DFI doesn't want you modding their boards like this, they'd rather have you buy the SLi-D or -DR instead. But yeah, ebay sells them, I think MSI has (or had) one you could buy, and of course you could check the F/S section.

You don't understand. It's not necessary to do the hardware mod I can alwayz use thoose lovely modded drivers. And I would rather buy from DFI cuz I know it's for dfi.I can't buy from e-bay since I'm not familiar with it.I rather buy them from a vendor then a person that I don't know nothing about. What if DFI finds out I have Ultra I have nothing to hide I just want to buy a bridge that's it.
