eerrrm has anyone used thermal epoxy on the back of the vid cards mem chips to mount sinks?
not on the chip...the back part like on the transistors and such,
wanted to know this IS safe before shorting anything out = )

Why do you care if the PCB gets hot? It is the chip that matters most, and a heatsink on the PCB won't do anything at all to help your o/c.

I also don't know why you would use epoxy for this, would be hell to get off when doing a RMA. (If that matters to you) smile.gif

not the actual pcb .... just all the transistors etc.. i am going to do this because i have a little aluminum plate on there and it gets really hot... actually hotter than the ram chips.. and the backside of the ram chips is still part of the chips, and it feeds the chips and it gets damn hot..
i think i may put some custom sinks on the chips also but i will have to chop them down a lot for 2 of them because my block is in the way..
and i have zalman sinks on there that are passively cooled which is more than enough.
I couldn't get the sinks off if i use epoxy lol....i would definately rip off transistors/traces/ and all that stuff. i guess i can look for some thermal adhesive double sided tape instead...
plan is to sink all the ram chips too..as for rma...the warrenty was "officially" gone the first day lol... but i could always be dishonest...but i would liek to not have to resort to this situation lol;.
