The mobo i was replacing (DFI ak76-sn) had a chipset fan, so i took it off. It had a two-pronged connector, so i couldn't use it on the new mobo (asus a7n8x) because i didn't see any 2prongconnectors on the board for a fan. However, I'm using an XFX geforcefx 5200 256ddr agp card and it only came with a heatsink, no fan. It has a two-pronged connector, but the grooves holding it in place didn't line up and i couldn't fit it in. So after sawing and then slicing a way with my knife, i was able to get it to what it shows in the pics below. The pics didn't come out to clear, but you may be able to notice that on one side, i sawed a little too much and wound up cutting into the hole where the pin would be inserted. Do you think it will still work? The metal part seems to still be intact.
If it's questionable, is it a problem if i try it? Would i short something if it was ruined?
