I was wonder which you liked better: Neon Lights or UV?
I wanted to give my case a little glow and I was wondering if I should get the lighted fans or the UV reactive ones.
Also, would it be better to get a single UV cold cathode for all the fans or to get the little ones that can be mounted on the fans.

It always depends on what color you're talking about ,blue will definitely light up more than UV.I have one of those fan ones (blue) it's a friggin desk lamp too bright to my taste.CCFL's to me are better than plain neon smaller and nicer too.
My advice is if you really want bright go with blue ccfl's .
You need at least 2 UV CCFL's to get a good light effect, if you do decide to get those ,buy one that you can plug two in the inverter that way if you decide to get another one you wont have to hide the second inverter

Well... someone correct me if I'm wrong on this...
Neons look better but produce more heat.
CCFLs are more faded color but generate less heat...
UVs take at least 2-3 to really get a good glow.
Personally, I don't use either CCFLs or Neons...
my case is lit up by LEDs only.

I like your case and that is the type of glow I'm looking for. The side panel reminds me of a guy from the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas" for some reason.
Is it really bright in person?
I was going to go with UV. The case holds 7 fans and I was going to get the UV light that wraps around the fan.
I hope your not calling me stupid with the smilie...
I don't like picture because they hardly ever look like the real thing.
The color scheme is green.

why dont you get UV fans with builtin UV LEDS, i hear those are really bright.

I've got a string of blue LEDs and it lights up everything. And on top of that, I spent less than $10 to make it.

Yes.

I used 10,000 mcd LEDs to mod the Vantec nexus. Which made it brighter... also, used 6 cooler master 4 red led neon case fans which added to the glow. Also replaced once of the PSU fans with the same fan as above.

If that wasn't enough, I used a dozen of the lazer leds placed around the window and inside the case.

As Bishop, LinuXProX, Psywar, PostalSID, Sykocus, Freejack, Celtica, or anyone from the lan party.

if you can solder than led are the way to go they are cheap and product little to no heat

If you can't solder or just dont have the time,
these are great, and most places sell them. The red and blue I can vouch for being good, don't know about the others.

^^ Yeah, those are very good, just plug it into a molex and you're good to go.
...but if you do have time, learning how to soulder will be an asset if you plan on doing other mods.

Those laser LEDs look cool but are way too expensive.
I'm not good with soldering and all the electronic stuff, but I learn fast so it shouldn't be too hard for me to figure it out.

I definately like neon lights better for just show... I currently have four... I also plan on adding UV lights, because I want to do that mod where you draw with UV marker on the circuits of your RAM to make it glow. Kind of off subject, but does anyone know what kinds of markers will work for this?

Neons dont run hotter.. their just not as bright as a Cold Cathrode..
Though the upside.. the color is just awesome on a Neon..
If you go with a neon u will need like 4 to really light up a tower..
if its a Cold Cathrode u will only need. maybe 2.. depending on the color.. if its a UV u will need at least 2.
I dont really like the color of the Cathrodes though.. But thats my Opinion..

I use an Antec Cool BLue 350 Watt power supply and one gree 80mm fan. The effect is nice, but lights it up nicely...no too bright, not too dim.

ive got a uv CC with uv reactice rounded ide cables. it looks hella nice. except you really need 2 to cover the entire case. i place mine on the bottom of my case so it really only covers the bottom half. i plan on buying a second one.

All you really need is a small 1x2x1/2 project box,470ohm resistors and 5mm leds color of your choice, so easy and fun to do, to solder a res on the + leg of a led dosn't require rocket science,do it man. Dont waste your money on those already made you can paint or chrome the box after and it'll look awsome

awww yeah how could i forget. i had the local comp store guy help me install all cables from the power source with flat uv activeated cords and he tucked most the cord up in the corner so the air flow is much better. its really helpful, drops temp to around 30 degrees C about 5 degrees less than without tucked away cords

Theres a good lad. Expand your horizons my friend. Souldering is an important skill to have. Easiest thing to pick up.
I like to put a little soulder on each joint first then connect them. Some guys like to go strait to connecting but this way is a sure fit.
