Full Version: extra lights possibly overload the 12v line?

Here's the scenario.

solid 550w-600w 24 pin atx psu.

4 120mm fans 12v
1 92mm fan 12v (not sure if the size is right, it's the top exhaust fan that comes with a TT armor)
1 80 mm fan 12v (not sure if the size is right, it's the psu hard drive cage exhaust fan that comes with a TT armor)
1 vcre chipset fan
1 12v watercooling pump.

Will adding 3-4 seperate UV Cold Cathode tubes impact the system in anyway?

(Why? well I'm mounting a BI PRO III on the front of the case it will leave me with 1 5.25 bay for a cd-rom and the 1 mandatory 5.25 for the power/floppy. There will most likely be room left over on the sides of the radiator and instead of patching it up with some thing I thought about putting a cold cathode on each side. If I can get away with it? Then get some UV reactive fan grills. The fans are too pretty to pull from inside, so I have to mount them to push through the radiator. They are Evercool Aluminum with blue led.)

Will that PSU be enough?

When is too much, just too much?

Thanks.

I've got all of my TT Armor fans (plus 3 additional 120mm fans) with 2 12" cold cathodes, and everything in my sig. I don't think the CC tubes pull that much current. Runs fine on 535W.

I agree, you should be fine. I have 4 120,s 2 90's and 3 12" cathodes and I run just fine. happy.gif

Thanks, for the input. I was mainly concerned because I've never run a watercooling setup before not to mention CCL's and wasn't sure if that wasn't overkill a pump and all those fans, etc.

CCL's are very low wattage. I have dual 12 inch and the transformer is rated for 7.8 watts. You ought to be fine as far as the lights go.
