hi i have just bought one of those window kits for ur case and i was wondering wat tools/ method would i use to etch into the perspex and then would my design be enhanced if i had a cathode in my case? i heared somewhere that the etching will sorta pick up the color of the cathode or something like that? sorry im not sure whether or not to post of this site/section. any info u guys could give me would be great coz rite now all i no is what my design i want is lol...batman symbol!

mask it off and have it sandblasted or do a chemical etch.

masking is that spray stuff ay? hmmm how do u do chemical etching? could i do it myself or do i have to give it someone proffessional?
A batman symbol would be easy enough. Just masking tape off the whole panel, and use an exacto knife to cut out the pattern, then peel the tape off the parts you want to be blasted.
The cold cathode or other lighting will look pretty cool behind it!

blasted by wat? how do i do the blasting part lol...sorry im such the noob! was it sand blasting? how and wat do i need to do that? im thinking of either etching it or masking it (masking would be a whole lot easier but would it capture the light from the cathodes? as in would they highlight the symbol more or would it just stay white?)

masking it means putting tape on it while etching to protect the nonetched areas..
and yes, you get it sandblasted

just read up on it a bit aparently 6mm-10mm thick peices of perspex are best for side light etchings...any idea how thick stanard case windows are? got a fair idea of how im gonna do this now...mask it off etch out the batsymbol and then was thinking spray the inside of the symbol with glass frosting....wat u reckon?or any suggestions for a better way of doing it? o btw wat would be the best tool to uses to etch out the symbol? was thinking about a small dremel???

Is this going on plastic or glass? If plas., take some acetone and wipe it over the masked area. If glass, some kind of acid. Take the piece to a bus. that does sandblasting. Look in the phone book of drop it off at a small glass house.

i dunno to my friends this sounds a bit pathetic but im sure alot of u would be able to relate to this...i would much rather do it on my own so as then it becomes even more unique and even more...i guess mine? does that make sense? so thank u for the idea of sending it away but i wasrealy interested in wat tools/methods to use in order to do it on my own. sorry i realise i didnt make that clear in my previous posts. i was hoping to get a nice thick outline of the symbol and i read some where that the etchings had to be in a "v" sort of shape to get the glow effect...

I can't comment on the quality of the tool itself but it should work fine. Nice that it has the flexy pencil grip extension. You should have some real good control with that. You might try and find some quality bits to go with it too.

mask the whole plexy (good quality masking tape, or else it will b sticky), and use a Dremel engraving tip to carve the INSIDE of ur panel. any light source, such as cathode, will reflect the engraving, making it lit up.

a little old, but u get the idea...
