I remvoed the ihs from my 4400+ perfectly, or so i hoped. Now when i start it up it shuts down automatically after .5seconsd

What type of cooling are you using after you removed the IHS ?

That is usually an indication of the comp shutting down to processor overheating. Sounds like your waterblock is not on correctly. With an IHS it is not difficult to keep the block flat, but once you remove the IHS you have to be very precise in mounting the block.. How many times have you fired it up and it shut off. You may be in the market for a new processor.
