im working on modding my guitar. i will be replacing the fret marks on my guitar neck with led's. i need to power 10 leds total. can i use 9v batteries to power these babies up? theyre 3v leds. and i was going to have 2 sets of 3, and 1 set of 4 leds, running off 3 9v batteries.

even if you could powering 10 leds with a battery it would kill the battery fast

what u could do.. is make a mini powersupplie..

have the wires run out the bottom.. you would have to plug it in.. but it would look like a wire going to ur amp or something lol..

drilling holes and running wires through your guitar neck will screw the accoustics of your guitar and the tention on the neck. and if it is electric or has pickups it will cause interferenece with the electromagnetic pickups. Modding your guitar is better left to the pros.

It's probably a piece of crap guitar (I sincerely hope it is anyways smile.gif ) Go nuts brother, the only way you will screw the tension severely is if your guitar has a truss rod in the neck and you drill into it. If you have one you probably will drill into it if you plan on replacing the dot markers, as it lies right below the fretboard in the middle.

yes of course it is. i made the guitar from pieces found in a friends room. its basicl a squier strat, but has different pickups, and i have 2 different necks in case i mess up horribly, or like the other neck better.

the truss rod will be the hardest part, im thinking about just cutting the neck in half, taking the rod out, putting in the leds, putting the rod back in, and screwing the neck back together.

i am not worried about how the guitar will sound. its a squier.

i was planning on running the lights off 3 9v batteries. i would put a switch on the front of the guitar, so it would look like a normal guitar still. (but oh no, its not)

the powersupply idea is basicly a no. i dont want to have to plug the thing in everytime i wanna show it off.

this guitar is basicly all looks. it would be awsome to use it at a show. but, it would not be my main guitar. pure looks.

so, in a nutshell:

can i run 10 3v leds, off of 3 9v batteries?
