i thought it was easy, u need a dremel with the cutoff whells and a drill/drillbit beg enought to make holes for casefan screws.
Gigashadow
Use a whole saw bro there cheap and they go into a drill.

Of course you have to have the basics, you are drilling steel not chocolate and even at 1/16 of an inch steel is pretty hard to cut.
For fan holes you at least need a hole saw,a drill to hook it up to it and some kind of a file to do the finishing(flat on one side and half round on the other) and dont forget to punch your center so you wont slip and slide with the tip of the bit wink.gif

yeah i never thought of that...it only took about 5 minutes with the dremmel, and i used one of those stone wheels to smooth it all out.

i need a dremel bad! need a blowhole up top. about how much do those lil baby's run for?
Gigashadow
Depends on what you buy. I got mine for 79 bucks came with a whole bunch of stuff, along with the flex shaft.

try doing it to acrilic. Luckly the fan guard hides most of the mess. but it still looks like crap.
Bassdude1000
Yeah ive heard about how hard acrylic was to cut, and frankly, I dont have the balls to possibly ruin another one of my computer parts at the moment. Maybe once i get a lanboy, then i can give it a shot, but until then...
General912
Yeah just be carefull when cutting it. Im getting mine profesionaly cut. Comes with my custom etched window.

hole saws are not cheap, 30.00 at home depot for a 120mm hole saw, then u have to buy the bit that it goes on. Dremeling is the best and most economical way to do it. And if u practice some before hand it will come out just as good as a hole saw.
wanksta
that was an ok atempt, general, but don't drill many holes and just try to punch it out.

outline the square u wanna cut out then drill a holes at the 4 corners and use a dremel to go from corner to corner. the the piece will just come out.

cut along the dotted lines drill the "o"s. the "###" should fall out

the hole should just be for the inner part of the fan so u have a spot to mount the fan

Cutting lexan? I found that to be easier than my metal ... I took and went to the hardware store and bought some 1/16" metal and a piece of lexan to see how they cut, really the lexan came out great with a 80mm hole saw ... I had no problems, the metal was a tad bit more tedious but I found it to be easy, and I got the hole saw for $16.99 ... they had 120 there for $21.99.
