Is it possible to mount a window without using the moulding?
sholiz34
That's my same idea, my dad races modifieds and he has these really tiny rivets. Like they use to hold the top of your case down. I'm thinking of riveting my lexan in once I get the window and everything cut (rather than fussing with modling or screws)

A buddy of mine figures it'll work ....

5 min epoxy glue should work too just make sure it doesnt squeeze outward toward the window
TheEclypse
hmm, will epoxy glue work with glass.....and can you drill holes in glass to get the rivets though?
Gigashadow
Yes you can drill holes in glass you need a carbide bit for a dremel and a dremel, also some serious patience, oh you might also want a face mask the glass dust is not good for you. Take your time don't press hard or you crack the glass. If you want to check out and see what the rivits will look like this will give you and idea Nuclear PC. I used large crome plated rivits for this mod. Also you might also consider not using the glass because when you sqeeze the rivits you could break the glass. I would suggest some rubber gromets on the glass side for some give.

he said hes using lexan and thats what is in mine and its bonded to it well the rubber trim but it stuck to the metal too cause ive got some overflow on it its good stuff itll hold but rivets are cool looking too

i would get lexan or plexiglas.....real glass breaks too easy and it would probably weigh a ton....besides, you wouldnt be able to mod glase without losing your head first.

get plexi glass and use those plastic rivets that come with the chieftec cases. they are removable.
Gigashadow
Hey man I was just thinking you know if you use those plastic rivets like come in the chieftechs DON'T buy them from some store go to like an autoparts store and get them cheap as dirt could probablly get a whole hand full for like 5 bucks or even less. Just ask for the plastic body molding rivets.

if you do drill holes for rivets. Be very carefull. If you put piece a wood under the glass it will help decress the cances of cracking it. Just go really slow when drilling. and take your time.

I used double sided tape and that held for a little while then i used a hot glue gun that held a little bit longer then when that fell of i used duck tape and that works perfect.

I tried using double sided tape for my window and it wouldn't hold because of the size of my plexi... ended up using velcro. Easy to apply and remove. smile.gif

i think ill go for either epoxy or rivets....depends if i have the bottle to drill the glass.
