  1. I found out its the HDD's, I bought a pci-x raid controller card and ran the same tests and they were conclusive with the on board marvell ones. but one of the three HDD's did work (bought one for a friend and tested it out haha) and it got higher levels on its own through the SATA III ports than the SATA II
  2. I bought the SATA III hdd's and thought I'd get better read/write levels using the 6Gb/s ports, and the drives fail separately when attached to the SATA III ports, I ran the HD Tune setup on each drive individually when the array failed
  3. Hey all, so I recently decided to test the capability of two SATA III hdd's in a raid 0 configuration, I was comparing this to my single SATA II ssd as a constant. ~However~ I discovered that both WD Caviar black 1TB hdd's fail when attached through the marval raid controller... these are my only SATA III ports available and out the the 3 drives I tested only one works (I receive a 'read error' when running HD Tune and my system crashes) but when attached through a SATA II port the drives function fully and without fail I need to know if this is an error with the HDD's or if I need to purchase PCI-x raid controller to manage this setup, thanks for the help
  4. Yeah I have the same mother board and to be completely honest, the OC Genie is crap. I don't even us the MSI overclocking software they provide. I have an I7-875k and in order to overclock mine, it took me well over 5 hours of making small adjustments. your best bet would be to make changes and then boot to ensure a stability, and reboot back into bios to fix unstable builds, or to further adjust voltages. the board is real temperamental, and I'd definitely keep away from the MSI mobos
  5. I re-ran the benchmark to the competition specs and hit 21466, which I think is pretty good with my one graphics card?
  6. So I ran a GPU test using 3dmark vantage set to my screen resolution of 1900x1200 with a score of 15084. I'm not sure if thats good or not I'll look through the forum for some comparison scores
  7. my rigs built and I'm enjoying it

  8. Thanks guys, I'll try 3dmark and get the results posted tonight
  9. Sweet, so I got the overclock to a stable state. I had to change the levels in a certain order by minimum intervals or the boot would crash and I'd have to start back at the beginning. right now its running at around 4.1Ghz here's some pics: Here's two games, one on each screen, on the left is crysis at full graphics, and on the right is Aion also at full graphics Heres the load test using CPU-Z, RealTemp, and Prime95 and here's Crysis at full specs, with Cpu-Z and RealTemp on the second screen
  10. You know, I bought the cyborg rat thinking it was going to an amazingly innovative product and to be honest I'm not that impressed. I bought the rat7 which has the same features as the 9 minus the wireless, and there weren't nearly enough adjustments for the hype. the thumb piece moves forward and backwards as well as pans out and in, and the palm rest slides back. other than that there's only a few extra pieces that have slightly different shapes. but it does look pretty sweet, almost like a transformer and one of the biggest pluses is the built in button to change the cursor movement speed. and with the MSI, I tried one last flash of the bios trying a different way, and found a little more functionality. it still remains extremely buggy and crashes on boot if I change any levels, but the turbo boost settings are enable to the default setting. still though, its some weak sauce and I'll be purchasing an asus maximus III sometime tomorrow. before I make the purchase does anyone have experience with this Mobo and the 875k? Once again thanks for the help
  11. Well I cant figure out how to get my MSI Mobo to be functional with the unlocked multiplier. I flashed my bios using 2 different versions from the MSI website both of which have the multiplier options in the bios, and both crashed my system during boot up on windows 7 and linux. I called the tech support and got horrible customer service, he kept changing the subject and talking about liquid cooling. Does anyone have any ideas for a workaround? if not, I'm considering getting a new Mobo and sticking with asus. its pointless haveing an unlocked CPU if I can't use that feature. thanks for the help guys
  12. Well, I made a mistake sorry guys. apparently what the bios setup projected as the overclocked speed wasn't what the speed was changed to. I contacted MSI and am going to flash my bios with the i7-875 compatible version, mess around with the setting a bit and let you guys know the temperature and load specs, mybad
  13. I'm actually trying to figure out what software I would need to do the tests for temperature and speed at idle and load any recommendations? I'll get some pics and specs loaded as soon as I can
  14. yeah I'm going to have to make 'dust removal' a weekly/bi-weekly maintenance thing
  15. Thanks, all the fans have the blue led's in them and I bought the NZXT fan controller for the added "eye candy"
