  1. yea i agree. i dont think a clear top justifies $50. aparently you can get it w/out the top on WD's site and its only $300. Hell, w/ that $50 you can almost get another 80Gb WD SATA drive lol The only good thing i see in it is the fact its finally up to 150Gb. Much better than 74Gb. Now if only the price was reasonable. I never found the price to performance ration of the raptor to be worth it IMO. <_<
  2. Looks like WD has a new Raptor drive. It is 150Gb, 10000RPM, NCQ, SATA. It even has a clear top aparently. At least thats what the email said from WD. More spam... err. Only problem I have with it is the fact that the drive cost $350 .:EDIT:. Here is a link! http://www.wdraptorx.com/
  3. yea there is some way to rebuild the master boot record from the repair thing. i dont remember the command though.
  4. If its a one time thing i wouldn't worry about it. But if it happens alot, then you may have a problem.
  5. The jokes were off topic and most of them sucked but 2 of them actually made me laugh. "Cos it's strange, isn't it. You stand in the middle of a library and go 'Aaaaaaagghhhh' and everyone just stares at you. But you do the same thing on an aeroplane, and everyone joins in." "A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. 'My dog's cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him? ' 'Well,' says the vet, 'let's have a look at him' So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then checks his teeth. Finally, he says 'I'm going to have to put him down.' 'What? Because he's cross-eyed? ' 'No, because he's really heavy'" As for the topic at hand, i never put important data on a RAID 0 and I ALWAYS back up my important stuff. i.e. Pictures and Music. I also keep my important stuff on a separate physical drive from my OS. I haven't lost it yet
  6. Well my best guess as to what PTFL means is "Pet The 'fudgenugget' Llamas" ? lol Thats just a guess though. am i close?
  7. yea u probably dont have usb mouse and keyboard enabled in your BIOS
  8. I'm not sure what the exact specs are for your subs or amp but i think you subs are 500W RMS. If that is so, and you amp can put out 500W RMS x 2, then you are set. However your best bet would be to get a 1000W amp at 2 ohms so it will run each sub at 500W. You may even be able to push it a little higher depending on the quality of the subs. I'm pushing my JL which is 400W at about 500W.
  9. wow reading about the peeps matching subs to amps w/ peak power was making my head hurt lol. Always use RMS. Peak means nothing. Anywayz, I also say you need a 1000W amp RMS at 2 ohms and just wire the two subs in parallel (this is assuming they are single 4ohm vc). I am going to recommend the JL Audio 1000/1. It is 1000W rms at any impedence between 1.5ohms and 4ohms. You can read more about it here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=221 I personally just put together a setup which includes a JL Audio 12w6v2 paired with a JL Audio 500/1 in a ported box complete with capacitor and 4gauge wiring kit. btw, a good place to get wireing kits is here: http://www.knukonceptz.com/ My 4 guage kit was only $28 and the wire is made of very finely stranded wire. Pretty nice. Oh and if you have headlight dimming problems, the best way to try solving it first is "the big 3". You can google it to find more information. Basically its a wireing job under the hood to reduce the resistance of ur electrical system so the amp can pull the power it needs better. If that doesnt work, you can get a cap as well. Upgrading the batter doesnt help much, it only prolongs the death of ur electrical system lol. The best solution is a H.O. alternator. but that is expensive. Well i hope that helps a little bit. Oh and you can always get good deals on the internet (ebay). I got my sub and amp and wireing kit on ebay. The only thing used was the amp and it still works like a brand new one... just a couple hundred dollars cheaper
  10. i know how you feel. My semester ended Wed after taking my last exam. I still don't have alot of free time cuz i just picked up more hours at work but whatever. It's still nice to take a break from school. I have like 5 weeks off this year. woohoo! Enjoy ur break man!
  11. actualy, the processor is running cooler cuz its getting less voltage due to the weak rails on the x-connect haha... j/k yea bad joke
  12. No, my speakers are pioneer also. I think next summer i may upgrade them again though to something even better. I want some componant speakers. Eh, we'll see. I don't have anything stock left of my stereo Oh and i would build a box except for the fact i dont have time betweet work and school and i dont have the tools. it would denitly save me some money but w/e. I dont think i can make a box w/ just a drill. haha
  13. I'm running a Pioneer P740MP headunit that i got like 3 or 4 yrs ago. Its a premier model and it still works like the day i got it I love pioneer.
  14. I got a new system for my car! woohoo!! here is what i got: 1 JL Audio 12w6v2 Subwoofer 1 Rockford Fosgate 1.0F Capacitor (overkill but i wanted room for upgrading) 1 Q-Logic 1.75cuF Box (I'm gonna set it up as sealed but it can be ported too) 1 KnuKonceptz 4 Guage amp wireing kit Pending Purchases: 1 JL Audio 500/1 amp Should be a pretty nice system for about $800. It will be replacing my MTX Thunder 6000 sub w/ 350W Kicker class D amp. I'll post some pics after i actually get all the stuff... I think they're walking it here from Washington state (I live in VA)
  15. Wow, sucks to have to take classes over the winter haha. i finnish my exams for this semester Dec 9th, then i'm out till sometime mid january. Here are my classes for next semester: CPEN 315 - digital system design CPEN 315L - digital system design lab CPEN 414 - computer architecture CPSC 420 - algorithms CPSC 480 - Software Design/Development Its kind of funny seeing the engineering classes and stuff yall are taking cuz i already took them and i remember them quite well Oh and i hated Ordinary Differential Equations. I had to take that twice but the second time i came out w/ a B+ btw, i'm a Computer Engineering AND Computer Science major
