Two reviews in a day sweet. smile.gif

I find it interesting that this card only looses to the gx2 by ≤ 10 fps in crysis (I looked at both of ccokeman's reviews), given the price difference between the two.

Cpu bound by chance? When the CPU speed is ramped up both cards come alive.

Something seems odd about the FPS for Crysis on the 8800 GTX.
My 8800 GTX with SLi disabled gets around 57-70 fps on medium with 2xAA.
And on high it varies from 25-50 fps on high with 2xAA.

57 to 70 frames on a GTX WOW you are keeping up with Tri SLI at those framerates.

What resolution are you running?

1280 x 1024. I'm not a fan of big monitors.

Turns out that the benchmark framerates are lower than gameplay for me. The benchmark on high it shows between 34-45 for medium, but it's around 35-70 (in a few places) in game.

The numbers for all the 8800 GTXs in the GeForce 9 reviews all seem a little lower then they should be.

The G92 is really close to the GTX as well so the GTX is performing the way it should for me anyways.

Just ran the Crysis GPU benchmark.

2xAA All settings to Medium at 1280 x 1024 I get:
Min FPS: 34.68
Max FPS: 86.92
Average FPS: 61.55

In the review the chart shows the 8800 GTX at only 31 at those settings.
And this test is with no SLi.

/me wonders if nVidia wants to sell more 9800 GTXs.
Which wouldn't make sense since they're less than the 8800 GTX.

Is that with Patch number 2?

If so that could be why you are jumped a little higher since we did not use that for this test. As for why don't ask its a long story. dry.gif

What do you have for a CPU?

Using patch 1.2.1.
The nVidia WHQL drivers what ever the version number is I can't remember (the drivers they say are for Crysis lock up with SLi after five minutes.)
And my CPU is a Q6600 at 2.8 Ghz.

well i do suggest you patch the game and benchmark crysis again. also you maybe cpu bound. right now im running
6600 dual at 3.06 ghz
1360fsb on p5w dh deluxe
4 gigs corsair 855mhz 4-4-4-12
8800gtx at 660mhz core 990mhz memory

settings: 1920X1200
AA off
Everything set to very high except motion blur off
15-20 frames
i mean at some points those frames dip like when say 10 AI or more are after me and shooting. but walking around it can peak at 25.

so your benchmarks are way off. again i think its because cpu bound or that patch helps A LOT! maybe both.
also AA appears to kill crysis more then most games, idd like to see the test with that off.

How are they off? In Crysis @ 1920x1200 there's 21fps in the review with an 8800GTX, where's the big difference to your 15-20? huh.gif Ccoke even has 2x AA turned on, so I really don't see what you mean.... unsure.gif
