Nice review... Although the performance isn't much better, anything that gets rid of bloody ribbon cables is good

The only reason I have never bought a SATA CD/DVD drive yet, is that I heard they will not work or have problems being detected etc., I guess I will try SATA next time I buy one.

QUOTE(road-runner @ Oct 4 2007, 09:24 AM) The only reason I have never bought a SATA CD/DVD drive yet, is that I heard they will not work or have problems being detected etc., I guess I will try SATA next time I buy one. Yeah, I've heard the same thing. That's why I kept my IDE drive in addition to the new SATA drive -------------------- :::: OCC XMAS Contest! :::: DIGG OCC! :::: OCC Gaming :::: OCC Teamspeak :::: Main Rig: | Intel Q9450 | Gigabyte X48-DQ6 | VisionTek HD 3870X2 | Mushkin XP2-8000 (2 x 2GB) 4GB | Mushkin 800w | 1 x Seagate 1000GB SATA 3.0GB/s HDD | Enermax Uber Chakra Full Tower | Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker System | Logitech diNovo | Logitech G9 | Thermaltake V1 CPU Cooler | |

Detection may be a problem with older mobo's but the new ones pick it up great. I was very impressed I must say i heard the rumor too and whole heartedly expected problems when installing the new drive but did not have any and nero picked up the drive and the write media excellently. To be honest the only thing holding the drives back are read write speeds thats why there isn't a huge difference in performance if some time down the road we have the ability to have quicker read write times I am sure SATA will draw the line between itself and IDE more prominently. Thanks for the feedback on the review guys (I am justin desjardins by the way)
