PSU List

Recommended Posts

I know that a list was started by jammin but I don't know how updated it is. Here is an all inclusive list I found at XS with brands listed by Tier's. I'm tired of seeing people complaining about their systems being unstable or something not running right, or having problems or one thing or another. Or some noob buying an 8800gtx only to have it cooked by his generic 600watt PSU.

Tier 1 can handle 4Ghz Conroe or 3Ghz AMD along with Oced Quad Crossfire/SLI With Ease.

Tier Z offers quality and power unequalled in its wattage range and is second only to other Zippy units.

Tier 2 offers almost as much power and stability as Tier 1 at Comparable Wattage levels with lower price/better availability.

Tier T offers the high quality components of Tier 2 with slightly less Rail stability due to Topower internals.

Tier 3 is ONLY Recommended if Price difference is present between Tier 3 and Tier 2 or due to availability issues with Tier 1/2 PSUs.

Tier 4 is recommended for stock or low power systems if Tier 3's are more expensive or are not available.

Tier 5 are NOT RECOMMENDED, but some brands have high/medium quality components in Tiers 2 through 4.

Technically it wasn't orginally mine, but I'm sure Perkam wouldn't mind if I added to it and prettied it up since I gave him credit anyway.

@Roadkill: I'd have to do some research of my own to see who manufactures those PSU's before I changed this list up. JohnnyGuru helped make it so I'm gonna have to wait a bit.

Oh then he will agree with it :) He might be undecided on a few as he personally hasnt played with them, nor has someone with an active load tester... but for the most part, he will.

I really have been pretty hopeless at working on my list , I'm fully aware of that.

Most of the information used to compose it thus far probably comes from the same sources as this one.

This is indeed a nice list.

I personally wanted to avoid simply copying and pasting a list from another forum (not detracting from how good it may be), as then you may as well just provide a link and go and look at it there.

Anyway, I think this may finally kick me into action to get my list somewhat finished.

I feel you on that the link might be nice, but this is easier to update from here, instead of constantly flipping between forums. Didn't want to seem like I was trying to show you up or anything but it didn't look like you had much done and I was getting tired of seeing posts with people complainging about PC problems or OC issues when they ran some $40 600watt PSU. Another note, if you base your list off of manufacturing or any construction it all, it's going to be extremely similar to this if not the same.
