I got eVGA Geforce 6800 AGP
What should be the right precedure? Overclocking first, then unlock, and then update driver? That's what I heard from the reviews on Newegg, if one unlocks first, one will not be able to overclock. Now tell me if that's true? |

try researching a little bit, I never owned a nvidia 6 series but people have been saying that the later models WILL NOT unlock because nvidia burns out the 4 extra pipes. But if you get lucky download "rivatuner" and unlock the pipes there

ohh.. sorry in that case i think the only safe way is (if the unlocked pipes do work) flashing the bios to include the 16 pipes then ocing

Don't flash to a different BIOS. You can unlock them in software (like Rivatuner). I'd unlock then overclock, that's how I did it with my brother's card. You'll have to use a third-party overclocking tool though, because coolbits won't work correctly after you open up the new pipes (it says your overclock fails every time after the unlock). -------------------- Desktop: | Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz | 128 GB GSkill Falcon | 8 GB WinTec AmpX | Sapphire 4870 X2 | DFI P35-T2RL | PCP&C Silencer 610 | W7 x64 | HTPC: | X3 720 BE @ 3.4 GHz | 4.5 TB Storage | 8 GB GeIL Black Dragon | PowerColor 4830 | ECS A-780GM-A | ATI Theater 650 Pro | OCZ Fatal1ty 550 | W7 x64 | Router/VPN/Compiling: | Opteron 175 | 4 GB DDR 500 | S3 Trio PCI VGA | Asus A8N-SLI SE | SinTek 500SLI | XP Pro | Office: | Dell Precision 390 | Core 2 Duo E6320 | 2 GB DDR2 667 | XFX 7800GT | Fedora 10 / Windows 7 RC | NetBook: | Asus EeePC 900A | 1.6 GHz Atom | 32 GB SSD | 2 GB DDR2 667 | Intel Integrated | W7 x86 | |

This is what you should do.
First overclock to find the potential of your chip. Then back the clockspeed to stock and see how many pipelines you can unlock without it artifacting. Finally, overclock it from there. It may not go as far because the pipelines may be damaged. -------------------- "Not a good idea to tell the administrator and owner of a site that they are a "spam king."
