I hate the RIAA almost as much as anyone. Still, the fact is the music in various game video's is copyweighted and used without permision.

The games are copywrighted too, but it's highly unlikely the game makers would have any problem with the vast majority of home made game video's. Afterall they get free advertising, and you can't play the game by watching a video.

Yeah, this pisses me off as well, but attacking the RIAA (or even MPAA) is not the answer. If anything it'd just make them more aggressive.

Though, I wonder why they haven't gone after Google Video, XFire, Fileplanet, or even Gamershell. You can download WoW (and other game) videos there which all contain music. I'm sure there are a lot of other sites as well.

The RIAA cannot stop you from making game videos, as video games are out of their jurisdiction. But using © music in those videos is another story.

Personally, I would have thought using the music would have been beneficial as I had seen a number of topics in various forums that asked, "What song was used in xyz's video?" Clearly it drew interest to the song, and most likely resulted in a digital or physical sale. It's not like people were just downloading the video to hear the song over and over. I don't know about any of you, but if I'm going to listen to a song, I'd rather open up QCD and play the MP3/OGG rather than the huge AVI file.

This bring up another question. Are the lyrics of a song not © as well? Why are lyric web sites still up and running? I can download (as well as copy or print) the lyrics.

yea...but the funny thing is that after the RIAA shut down Napster their sales went down. so people were obviously on the downloading some songs and if they liked it they would go out and buy cds.

well it appears most likely it was a hoax. warcraftmovies is running fine, and well rpgfilms isnt even coming up with a page...they probly got hacked...but well just have to see.b

"You're obviously both fantastically brilliant" ... yeah, rimx and clay are pretty important people around here. I heard that they both created the matrix, but don't take my word for it - or anyone elses for that matter - because it'll likely be ignored.
