It should have some type of fan/cooling system. A heat shield has it's passive uses but a cooling pad has it's active uses.

So it's two plastic chopping boards with a sheet of metal sandwiched inbetween costing nearly $100?

I just couldn't care less as I am bathed in so much radiation daily. And if its such a huge issue do we have some lead mesh gloves to protect our hands now? Personally I have an off cut of pine board not to protect myself but so that the laptop doesn't sit on clothes etc sucking in dust and blocking airflow.
