I think perhaps they misunderstood you MR,.. I checked around 2:00 yesterday afternoon and Kara, a BIOS support engineer told me she had out of warranty replacement chips in stock,.. for the X38 Maximus Formula Boards.

with 2-day shipping included cost was $45.00..

BIOS Dept. [email protected]  level 3 support Engineer.  phone: 812-282-2787

But you have equivalent chip on the way, that's good news.

well I just removed my bios with the help of that little tool. and with the technique that you add a little solder to all 4 pins make contact to each other making possible to remove both at once. I was shaking A LOT lol.   http://img203.images...602/step1wf.jpg

now I will clean the best I can and proceed to put the new bios without soldering to recover my old one.

need something like this http://www.hipro-tec......] lash_5.jpg
and a solder sucker because the contacts aren't flat enough to place the bios straight

well I did it! I couldn't wait again... and  everything works fine!! at least in boot, no errors.

Bad luck me or lucky me... I managed to recover my old bios but now the new bios it's broken I think. lol
at fist it did work but then I think I just shorted(I shorted both several times lol) and was giving the "no nvram found"

next tried to recover the new one but it said " bad file block size" or whatever  when writing the file into flash.
mehhh I soldered the old bios and now must put the cooler the right way to test in windows.

here are 3 photos. enjoy xD
