I need a new headset for my phone and would like one with a little oomph. Ideally I'd like to stay in the $40 - $70 range.

Anyone have or have experience with good headsets that have decent bass in this price range?

What exactly do you mean by "headset"? There are too many styles of headsets to not be specific.

Another question is would you be willing to add an in line mic? It would be a independent mic that would attach to your headphone cable. The reason why is that I find that very few mics that come with headsets are good quality. If you buy an independent unidirectional microphone of decent quality, it will greatly improve your call quality to the person on the other end.

I would to pair that with some closed sennheiser headphones.

I would also DEEPLY consider possibly saving up some more and going for a budget of 150 so that you can get the audio technica M50s along with a mic. I think you or anyone for that  matter would be happy to pay the extra cash and get something good, then getting something that isn't so great and end up wishing you had more.

I have a $40 LG Optimus Slider for Virgin Mobile. No way I'm spending $150 on headphones.

As far as specifics, something like a normal set of either in the ear buds or ones that wrap around each ear independently. No behind the head styles or over the head.

I was looking at a pair of Phillips like one of these 2:

I was also looking at these from V-Moda:

For $40 or less, you can pick up a decent set of IEMs. Look up Astrotec AM-90 on ebay. I have a pair and love them. I'm not sure of the price now, but you can also look at Brainwavz M1, I used them until I lost them and that's what I plan on getting when I need a new pair again.

I suggest you look around on head-fi.org, they've got huge lists of earbuds, headsets, IEMs etc complied with ratings, prices, descriptions, etc. Great resource for buying new audio equipment.

Oh, and if you want cheap bass, Sennheiser CX-300 all the way.

If you felt like splurging a little there are these.

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16826369018

a few different colours and I have been using them for quite a few months now. They bring you into a whole new level of audio fidelity and perform amazingly. The unique design that allows for 13mm drivers gives clean and not overwhelming bass and soaring mids and highs.

They are comfortable, well constructed and fit fantastically. The mic is designed to offer clear calls and is partially seperated from the audio output and I have been nothing but happy with my purchase of these.

Using them 8 hours a day 5 days a week while working.

Leaning towards the AF45m's or possibly stretching the budget for those AF56m's. We shall see but so far, from the reviews online the AF45's seem an exceptional value for what I want.
