http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-Dual-monitor-DVI-VGA-Graphics-Video-Card-Matrox-G450-32MB-/181001120064?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a2481e940
or one of these

Them Matrox G200 Quad's look interesting! Found them in the UK for £25  Just PCI too, so I guess you could put 2 of them in any old pc and have up to 8 screens?!?! What is the software configuration like?

Because this uses splitters does that mean you can only get 2 independent displays over 4 monitors?

6 old CRT monitors, 3 cheap graphics cards with two outputs each and a motherboard that can handle 3 graphics cards.

I thought nowadays those CRT monitors can only be found in museums.

He said cheapest, I'm sure you can find 6 old monitors that people want to give away for free. Nothing's cheaper than free. :P

Though desk space may be an issue.

And weight is a problem for them. Not portable at all.
Back on those days when I had to clean the desk, it was very irritating to move those bulky monitors and placing them once again.
