I'm not seeing the point when the $200 cheaper (at minimum) base 3 GB card performs essentially the same.

In regards to that though, wouldn't an nvidia card just be the better option?Video cards are not always about gaming perf. GPU Acceleration of applications is a way to utilize the additional memory. I will be looking at adding in some tests.
