I'm not seeing the point when the $200 cheaper (at minimum) base 3 GB card performs essentially the same.

I'm not seeing the point when the $200 cheaper (at minimum) base 3 GB card performs essentially the same.
by the time the 6GB would be fully utlized, the GPU's strength itself is likely going to long have been bottlenecking performance.

Video cards are not always about gaming perf. GPU Acceleration of applications is a way to utilize the additional memory. I will be looking at adding in some tests.
