Is there any great improvement of this drive over the vertex 3? I have 2 of the 3's in raid zero. It would be nice to get the same
or better performance using only one drive.
no chance of it matching raid 0 vertex 3's, considering it is still on the sata 3 (6g/s) bandwith.
it is slightly faster than teh vertex 3, but not anything near raid 0 speeds

If you want sheer performance and have the cash, then check out OCZ revo drives.

Intel 520 drives are little better than vertex 4 drives.

The vertex 3 in raid 0 will not allow you to use it in sata 3. I had to use the sata 2 ports before it would work..no chance of it matching raid 0 vertex 3's, considering it is still on the sata 3 (6g/s) bandwith.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I think I see what you are trying to get at. Right now you have a raid 0 array with basically 550 mb/ps of read speed due to the use of the sata 2 ports. You are asking if the controller on the vertex 4 will be better suited for your marvell controlled sata 3 ports to see if you get better real world performance.
In which case the answe is I do not know. The indelinx stuff is too new and unexplored to be able to answer that. A good way arounf it though is to go with a revo drive. Since you would be using PCI instead of sata, you won't have controller issues.
If you sell both those drive you have now, you could get something like this http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820227745
I do not know what you can and can't afford, but check out the read and write speeds

Oh, so like me you have marvel sata 3 Ports and your ssd raid is stuck on sata 2.
In that case no, because marvel sata 3 is much slower than 2x intel sata 2

WOW that was impressive. Seems we are always chasing our tails. Trying to have the fastest everything.Just look this video, load times of StarCraft 2 and World of Warcraft, between a Vertex 3 and Vertex 4,if i didnt by m4 i will def. by this SSD.
