Best Screen capturing software?

Main Rig: i7-3930K, Asus P9X79 WS, Quadro FX 4800, Intel 335 SSD, Vertex 4 (Temp Drive), Raid-1 2x 2TB, 64GB (8x8gb) G-skill 1600, SilverStone RAVEN RV02, SeaSonic Plat 1000watt..
Review Test Rig: : i7-4770k, MSI-GD65 Gaming, Geforce GTX 770 , OCC Vector 128gb, Patriot (2x8gb) 2400 , (Case always changing) Thermaltake 750w.

like the title says, anyone know the best screen capturing software? I've used a bunch of free ones in the past and either limited to 640 and or MPEG. I'm looking for something to has a wide range of options (free or not).
I use MSI afterburner you can easily overclock gpu and also no lag while recording also low file size!

I've been using virtualdub lately, h264vfw as the codec, uses 15% processor for 960x720, 18-19 for 1280x720 @30fps and 24 cfr main profile. Had a lot of borked mp4s that would play but would not reencode, stream or remux. Vdub wouldn't cap the sound from the desktop but it muxed with the original sound without timing issues. Nvidia had bundled sw but it was low res and crappy quality, the plus side was near zero processor load.

ShadowPlay if you have a Kepler based GPU. Very little overhead thanks to the built in H.264 encoder built in.
