I bought mine during the last sale (the original post date). It came looking brand new. Package had the AC charger and Kindle Fire (no manual or USB cable). You will want a Micro-B USB cable (like the Blackberry one).
Kindle Fire is easily root-able and you can install any custom ROM you want. I'm currently running Energy ICS CM9 3.0 Kernel. If you're not comfortable with cmd line, there is an utility that can do all these commands for you.
Practically stopped using my Lenovo Thinkpad X120e 11.6" laptop.
