Western Digital for warranty, Samsung for reliability cause my 06 drive is still working

Next time ya close my Survarium thread don't be a hypocrite and make a thread under the same conditions

I have a mix of Samsung, Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi. I don't really have a favorite among them.

tried Samsung & Seagate, the former(80GB IDE) still works since '06 which i handed now to a friend. i have 2 x 160GB with the latter each acquired in different occasions ('07 & '08).
the older one died just last year which is no big deal cause it might be my negligence. shelved that working '08 160GB.

now running with 3 x 500GB WD Blue, 1 x 640GD WD Green this time since 2011. works fine tho and idk which of those three brands may i call which i preferred.
HDD life/failure; matter of luck or how we treated them, idk :rolleyes:

Older HDDs still bear those logos with them.

Of course! But with Maxtor you do have to go back

I have a 750GB Maxtor One Touch that I bought in 05' if i rem correctly and it is an Seagate Barracuda. After the external enclosure stopped powering on, I just took out the HDD. That drive still works perfectly :biggrin:

Picked Seagate because they always have the best value when i need to buy...and they haven't died on me as much as WD. Actually I have an ancient Hitachi that finally died but almost sold me on getting Hitachis haha
