Decent Wireless Network Card?

Recommended Posts

Alright so I've been through two extremely cheap network cards on my computer so far, and typically they've done this thing where they'd be fine (30-70 ping) and then thered be points to where they would get 800-1k ping and sometimes 2k ping. Most of them I've totally destroyed through rage, or by messing with the antenna (or what have you one was a USB) until I got my ping back.

Is there anywhere I can get a network card that will frigen work, and I'm pretty sure it's not my router because I had a laptop which had no problem with internet (other than -2 fps on most games).

I was thinking this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054L9PWO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF

If your ping is fluctuating that much, it could be your router or your ISP. Call your ISP tech support to do a diagnostic BEFORE you waste your money on another wireless card.

I have a 10 dollar USB wireless dongle that has worked for eons with very little ping issues, and quite frankly, I would say that as long as your have an intel socket 775 or a phenom II or above, go with USB.

USB wireless works just fine, and you save a PCI lane.

If you are not comfortable with this, then you REALLY should talk to your ISP before purchasing anything at all.

Yeah, try connecting your PC with an ethernet cable to see if the ping times still fluctuate or not. If pings fluctuate like mad even when hardwired, like Tjj226_Angel said, check with your ISP. If not, then shop shop shop for a wireless adapter :)

Not sure what kind of router you have, but if you have an Asus router, maybe stick with the Asus adapters?
