I did my first run of Prime 95 on ym new system today, and I monitored my temps using the built in X79 Sabertooth Thermal Radar. The only temperature I saw that really stood out was the VCORE temp, which rose to 82C in an hour, at which time I decided to abort until I could get a little feedback from you guys. How high can my VCORE safely go without risking damage from overheating?

Your fine, but you still may want a better cooler.

Yeah, I plan on installing a water cooling set-up once my Cosmos II arrives.

You are fine. Anything in the low to mid 80C is acceptable. The TJMax temp for the 3930k is at about 86C I think.

The watercooling will probably cut your present vcore temp by at least half.
You're telling me. I am in the same boat. Stupid USPS...

Yeah but the funny thing is... I bought the remaining parts for my rig on the same day and the case will be the last thing to arrive (it is going to take approx. 1 week for it to get here). Until then I will run my rig on a Newegg box. I think I should join the OCC's USPS gripe group.

So I ran Prime 95 a little longer this time, VCORE hit 87C, that's on stock settings. That shouldn't be happening should it? :(
