Any fairly modern hardware is fine, like Dave said in the original post any of the Intel Sandybridge processors will do, as would the Core i7 9xx series and AMD AM3 CPUs (Phenom II/FX).

I thought maybe the SB-E CPU's weren't mainstream enough or something, but then Waco pointed out it was just an old post. So I figured I'd just ask.
PS: Who cares if it's mainstream, we're overclockers!
