Man, I like those stock vs overclock tests. Those are some big jumps in performance! :thumbsup:

Yeah... next time someone asks why i overclock im just gonna point them to this thread, haha. Proof of exceptional performance increases for free.

Yeah seriously me too...this has been an eye-opener and a reminder of why I OCed so much back in the day. I will be posting my OCed scores tomorrow. I am doing the final stress test on my CPU OC. The memory limited me to 3.6GHz (maybe less if it fails again), so hopefully I got enough which I doubt lol

I was game-stable at 3.6GHz CPU, 1020core/1525mem but not so much on the benchmarks. My real limiting factor is my RAM. It held me back big time. And on time of that, the voltage options on my board are pretty limited (I was surprised) so I couldn't push it as hard as I wanted. New mobo is the next thing on my list though...

gg man! My RAM held me back a lot so we'll have to do it again after I replace this mobo :)

I need your link for 3DMark11! Screen shots for the rest wouldnt hurt but im winning so i believe you haha.

Are you sure you didnt push your core/mem too far? Just because its stable doesnt mean its better, if the memory is throwing errors it will hurt your performance alot. Looking at how close some of your scores while overclocked compared to your stock ones, especially that Cinebench 11.5 score, i think you might have pushed it alittle much. Stalker looks to be fine, some major improvements there, as well as heaven, Both the 3DMark's look adequate i guess, but the Cinebench just looks abysmal, you should slightly lower core/mem clocks and run the test again, i cant imagine you only got a 2FPS increase with a 15% overclock.

Those scores seem about right, as far as Unigine Heaven's benchmark is concerned. I got my HD 6970 yesterday and put a full cover water block on it. Default voltages are already high at 1.175v, so I'm not sure how much extra I'm going to get out of it. I can compare some scores with imm0rt41's later tonight.

My bad on forgetting to upload the pics, I will get those up when I get home either for lunch or tonight. The GPU is running beautifully, but I think my RAM is what is causing most of the instability. I need a new mobo anyway, so I was just going to swap in my DDR3 sticks and see if I can get some more. I'll be running this GPU 24/7 at 980/1475 so I'll run a couple benches at those speeds and see if your theory is correct.

Really, what this showed me is that I built a pretty potent rig for about $800 by looking on craigslist and on here for deals. I guess it goes to show if you're patient and look around you can get a lot for a little. I can't wait to get this new RAM in though, might have to have a rematch ;)

+1 Some of my builds takes a few months to build because I keep looking for deals (which I also share at the marketplace for new or open box/recertified).

Yeah man you can get such good rigs for cheap.

I built my Brothers computer for $800. Used a cheap but good case with a few extra fans. Got a really nice P55 board from ccokeman that was only used for its review. Got a nice HSF REALLY cheap on a shell shocker one day. Grabbed a Intel Xeon X3440(basically i7-860) clocked it to 3.8Ghz with that HSF i got for cheap and just bam... Hes running 2x 5770's in Xfire and just loves it, total cost was just under $800, but i used a PSU that i won from OCC so that helped reduce prices a bit.

I think we can all agree that you dont have to spend alot of money to have a good computer.

I only tested two of the benchmarks you guys are using. I'm using my 1090T at 4.0GHz, 986core/1502mem (1.190V).

Unigine Heaven v2.1, 8xMSAA & 16xAF Tessellation Normal, highest settings on rest(1680x1050)

FPS = 48.7

Score = 1228

Min FPS = 19.2

Max FPS = 90.4

Cinebench 11.5, OpenGL Run

OpenGL = 63.26

You've got something limiting your system. You've got a higher core and memory overclock, but I've got a higher CPU overclock and better scores. :dunno:

Here are my scores with 1030MHz core clock (1.275V):

FPS = 50.1

Score = 1261

Min FPS = 19.1

Max FPS = 93.2

Cinebench 11.5, OpenGL Run

OpenGL = 64.33

The HD 6970's pretty good, but the GTX 570's pack some punch.

Yeah... all your scores are pretty decent in line with your stock --> overclocked EXCEPT Cinebench, its just bad. Something isnt right.

Thanks for posting Capi! Your the greatest!

What did you do? Sell your GTX460's and buy a 6970??

Nope, I still have my GTX 460's. I've got friends in Seattle that might need an upgrade for playing StarCraft II, I might give it to them as gifts if/when I visit... or I might donate them in the next OCC contest.

I bought tacohunter's reviewed ASUS HD 6970 2GB for a great price in a cash and trade deal and put a full cover water block on it. I'm looking for another good deal on one for crossfiring. :P
