I also have the earlier model from last year
havn't had any problems, the new ones have strange colors though, it is not a pretty red like the old one I have, more like candy apple

the USB 3 did better than the internal in a few tests
You are correct. Keep in mind the 7200.11 internal drive I used is an old drive that has always been on the low end of the scores. I was not able to take out the FreeAgent drives to test them with bare SATA unfortunately
