X2 550 C3 @ 200x15.5, 4GB Memory @ 1600MHz

 

Initial configuration with the board. Mostly stock settings to test 1600MHz rated memory. Also ran a couple of 3dMark benchmarks using onboard graphics. True 120 with stock fan. No other onboard cooling used.

X2 550 C3 @ 200x15.5 (All Cores Unlocked), 4GB Memory @ 1600MHz

 

 

Pretty much the same setup as posted above. All 4 cores unlocked using the "ASUS Core Unlocker" setting in the BIOS. The onboard switch or pressing the "4" key on the keyboard during post works equally well. Once the cores are unlocked BIOS default settings need to be loaded to revert back to the stock number of cores. Also threw in a couple of 4870 Crossfire benches.

Nice work Praz. That board is killer for overclocking unlocked CPU cores. Glad to see how well you got yours :)

Thanks guys. What surprised me is how well the board did at 4.0GHz with air cooling. Using the stock True 120 fan and no additional fans the board was close to being silent. Running LinX CPU temps topped out at 53C and the onboard heatsinks never felt hot to the touch.

 

I think what a person will be able to achieve will come down to the limitation of the CPU. It handles unlocking cores well, can do 300+ HTT and has no problem with high memory clocks. And best of all all the basics just work.
