NVIDIA's next generation cards will use the Fermi architecture, this much we've known for a while. But what's really under the hood of the core, codenamed GF100? ccokeman takes us on a tour as he examines Fermi: Codename GF 100 Closer Look http://www.overclock...s/nvidia_gf100/

That's what I thought. There is not much new stuff in there, but the performance seems amazing nonetheless!

I've heard the word "Fermi" so much and seen so few actual numbers that mean anything that it's keeping me from being even the slightest bit excited about the card. :huh:

But there is another post with some better benchmark comparisons that seems absolutely astonishing. I can tell you this is a beast.

Look at transistor count, that over 3 billion. At 40nm that should be around and likely no less than 500mm2, power consumption is directly related... think 5970 for a single Fermi GPU. It better be a beast performance-wise ;)

It does look good so far, but we've seen enough paper, lets see some hardware now NVIDIA :)

:blink: What? You seem to think I'm anti-nVidia or something...

I can tell you this: Nobody knows anything concrete performance-wise (other than "good") and the numbers being thrown around mean absolutely dick. I'll take the same attitude I did with all of the 5-series hype and wait for actual performance numbers. Till then it's all just idle speculation without much merit. :lol: Sure it'll be fast but until we see real numbers, real power consumption, and real prices it doesn't mean a thing.

Hmm, the technology their implementing seems to be pretty advanced, and I can't wait to see actual benchmarks, and even how far these cards based on the architecture are able to overclock. Though I'm wondering if it's too late for right now, as AMD has a good part of the market with their value and performance cards.
