You'll save $133.04 in comparison to the AMD build BizaroStormy built for you above. This was the best i could do for an i5 system. sad.gif

Not bad, but it's obvious you have to cut corners to build an i5 for that price

Yeah it definitely took awhile. But i don't think it any of it will effect performance, which would be a concern if it did.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm really excited to see some guidance! I really like Bizarooos build! It seems like it will handle everything I want it to do. An unexpected sale of some of my stuff at craigslist has given me some extra money. I can increase the price up to $750 if there is any need for it. Maybe a few improvements on the build, phenom 550 & scorpio black? 5770 seems like a very capable card. I don't really need to play all the games at the highest resolution possible but I would like this build to perform good for atleast a year.

Thank you

The budget being $750 changes a whole lot and you should really build your own at this point. smile.gif

I would never get a open box hard drive, just throwing your money away.

With your extra money I would take my build and upgrade the Hard drive as other have said to the WD black.
I have used the Green, Its very quiet and cost effective but doesn't offer killer performance.

Also maybe pick up a copy of Windows 7 its definitely worth it smile.gif

The Athlon II X3 435 is one of the best band for you buck chips right now and I have seen it overclocked in reviews (with an appropriate aftermarket cooler)
to over 3.5Ghz so there is the possibility for some overclocking fun if you like to do that. wink.gif

Every hard drive i've ever owned was bought without a "box" from newegg and they've all worked great. "Box" holds no relevance. But AMD is cheaper no doubt. I pointed that out.

Theres a difference between "open box" and "OEM" which is what your talking about.. "open box" has been shippid, tested and returned to newegg. Then newegg sells it at a reduced cost.

I'd recommend the dual-core (two extra unlockable cores) AMD Phenom II X2 Black Edition. Once you unlock the extra cores it automatically goes up to 3.8GHz - that's good value biggrin.gif

There's no guarantee that the other two cores will unlock without incurring problems.

....& I don't know where you got the "automatically goes up to 3.8GHz" from. blink.gif
