You'll save $133.04 in comparison to the AMD build BizaroStormy built for you above. This was the best i could do for an i5 system.

Not bad, but it's obvious you have to cut corners to build an i5 for that price Yeah it definitely took awhile. But i don't think it any of it will effect performance, which would be a concern if it did. -------------------- Processor- INTEL CORE i7 920 @ 4.0GHZ

Thanks for all the replies. I'm really excited to see some guidance! I really like Bizarooos build! It seems like it will handle everything I want it to do. An unexpected sale of some of my stuff at craigslist has given me some extra money. I can increase the price up to $750 if there is any need for it. Maybe a few improvements on the build, phenom 550 & scorpio black? 5770 seems like a very capable card. I don't really need to play all the games at the highest resolution possible but I would like this build to perform good for atleast a year. Thank you The budget being $750 changes a whole lot and you should really build your own at this point. -------------------- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.84GHZ

With your extra money I would take my build and upgrade the Hard drive as other have said to the WD black. I have used the Green, Its very quiet and cost effective but doesn't offer killer performance. Also maybe pick up a copy of Windows 7 its definitely worth it The Athlon II X3 435 is one of the best band for you buck chips right now and I have seen it overclocked in reviews (with an appropriate aftermarket cooler) to over 3.5Ghz so there is the possibility for some overclocking fun if you like to do that. -------------------- E6600 @ 3Ghz / PNY 8800 GTX oc / EVGA 680i / 4 Gb G.skill ddr2 800 / 320 Gb Seagate Barracuda / 650 watt PSU / Tuniq tower HSF / NZXT zero case / nvidia 3d vision glasses & 120hz Samsung monitor.

Every hard drive i've ever owned was bought without a "box" from newegg and they've all worked great. "Box" holds no relevance. But AMD is cheaper no doubt. I pointed that out.

Theres a difference between "open box" and "OEM" which is what your talking about.. "open box" has been shippid, tested and returned to newegg. Then newegg sells it at a reduced cost. -------------------- IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, CALL IT VERSION 1.0 Xfire - shallowbay10 Steam - ShallowBay10 PlayStationNetwork - ShallowBay10 Rig: -Antec Three Hundred w/ 3 blue LED fans -Biostar 790GX -AMD Phenom II 940 @ 3.8ghz 1.48v -Corsair Hydro h50 Water Cooling -2gb OCZ Platinum 800mhz -evga 9800gtx+ -WD 500gb hdd -WD 1 tb hdd |

I'd recommend the dual-core (two extra unlockable cores) AMD Phenom II X2 Black Edition. Once you unlock the extra cores it automatically goes up to 3.8GHz - that's good value
