how do i stop unwanted startup programs in w7?

there are 2 programs id rather not run at startup but i don't see how to modify the startup list in w7.
these are lavasoft ad-aware and spybot s+d.
i know how to shut them down in vista using the windows defender tools options but i haven't been able to figure it out in w7.
have any of you found a way to change up the startup programs after booting in w7 and if so would you give me a few pointers please.

Those applications should have an option not to run at startup. Otherwise, msconfig will do the trick.

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I usually open the registry editor and remove the offending keys. Its the same procedure as in XP and I thing vista too. You will need a CMD winndow to open regedt32

Look for these keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I was thinking uninformative and non-committal, but BS works too.

Go to microsoft.com and look for autoruns.Great little program that lists probably everything that runs at start up. http://download.sysi...es/Autoruns.zip
