I'm impressed by how much thought ASUS has apparently put into the design of this card.

We need more high grade cards like this from competitors maybe it will make Creative stop producing junk. Very informative review and what an exceptional card.

Thanks everyone (especially Carl for suggesting it), yeah it was a lot of fun reviewing the card, although quite difficult to find fault in the product at all.
Asus have steadily been building an amazing line up of soundcards to suit every level of requirements and budget, so while I still use my X-Fi XtremeMusic in one machine, if I was buying a new card, it wouldn't be one from Creative, it would be an Asus card, possibly the D2 or higher, based on the sound quality experienced with the Essence STX
