Anybody going to see the midnight show? Has anybody been to a screening?

I'm going tomorrow evening at the IMAX theater. I powered through the graphic novel Tuesday night even though I bought it three weeks ago to read slowly before the movie came out. Now that I look back at it, one is probably better off watching the movie first and reading the graphic novel after as now the movie's ending is sorta ruined for me. Then again, I'm sure Snyder did a great job in creating a fun visual adaptation.

I'm gonna go see eventually...probably during spring break (10 days or so). I'll finish reading the comics before I go see it (if you're reading it casually, they're slow reads) smile.gif

Your so lucky Kash.

Theatres here won't be showing it until friday evening. I'm seeing it then for sure though.

I haven't done the whole "midnight showing" thing since college. I definitely want to see the movie though.

And it's funny what you said in regards to reading the graphic novel. I had wanted to pick it up and read it, but after speaking to my friends who read it, they told me the same thing you said...see the movie first.

It wasn't really that slow, I read the whole thing in a few hours. Then again, I also read several hundred pages of dense law material a week tongue.gif

I haven't watched it yet, but will this weekend hopefully. So far the movie has gotten an 8.5/10 rating, so it must be good.

Saw this today in IMAX, and I don't think it was really worth the additional price. The movie is pretty slow, though it is separated by a few nice fight scenes (reminiscent of Batman). Story is pretty predictable; I've not read the graphic novel, so I don't know if it is simply based on or the movie version of it.

Graphically wise, I've seen better... and you see a majority of the special effect during the commercials for the movie. Yes, that's about it. I also couldn't get over the fact that Ozymandias looked like Robin's twin brother from that horrid Batman & Robin movie.

There is also a lot of nudity in this movie... sadly, it's 95% Dr. Manhattan so be prepared to see lots of bug blue. You'll see more mail genitalia than a hard core porno. Seriously though, I don't know how this movie didn't end up with an NC-17 rating, I guess that just goes to show how screwed up MPAA is. biggrin.gif

Wow. I just went and saw it because my buddies were going. I figured it would be another slow, boring graphic novel-to-movie like Sin City. This movie was violent, gory, naked... but it had some really good action sequences.

I don't know why this wasn't NC-17. And there were people who brought their young children in to see it...
