Going through it now, but wow.. 22GB/s memory bandwidth :o

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I was hoping for more of an increase in the gaming tests. Looks like my quad has a lot more life left to it. :)

Like the review said, until games start depending more on multiple cores, don't expect too much of a bump.

When games use multiple cores better my lowly Q6600 will wake up as well. :D

Good point, but the performance enhancements of the Nehalem processors will still blow our Q6600s away when that day comes

I'm with you there.

Good point. and I was hoping to not have to upgrade... ever...

I must say that I'm annoyed that multi core procs have been out as long as they have and games don't seem to be using the power, imho. According to this newer stuff like crysis uses mutiple cores. When playing warhead I've noticed that core 4 stays at about 75% but the other 3 jump all over the place.

I was thinking uninformative and non-committal, but BS works too.

Well, if you think about it, how much are games really going to benefit from utilizing multiple cores? You see huge leaps in performance from GPU upgrades, not CPU upgrades. New processors are great for applications that require a fast processor, as indicated in the first couple of tests, most notably the encoding tests. Those results were quite impressive.

true. oh well, i've never been able to get the performance I think I should (these reviews get my hopes up) and my rig is a couple of generations behind the times anyway.

It will be intresting on how performance boards and good memory play out as they start to come out.
