Forgive me if this has been posted already, but it definitely caught my eye. Apparently, a class action lawsuit is underway against Nvidia and ATI regarding price fixing over the past 10 years and a creation of a fake power struggle between the two for dominance.

Regarding whether it's true or not is a different story, but interesting indeed:

Seems like a BS conspiracy theory to me. One that happens to have prices to back it up. what the heck. This has to be total BS.

ATi and nvidia fixing prices? Is that why ATi has reported net losses for the past two consecutive years? Because it was planned that way? Blow me, stupid hippies.

I am not saying they are guilty, but to say it's simple BS, I don't think, is correct.

Look at the graphs and the 34 page lawsuit itself, there is some compelling evidence in there. Prior to 2002 ATI and Nvidia products were always released 3 to 10 months apart from each other with 100 or more dollars in price difference.

Starting in 2002, all of the releases were within a month of each other and many were on the same day. Price wise, all of the prices were nearly identical, often exactly identical. As soon as the department of Justice started to investiage in 2006 this immediately changed back to what it was prior to 2002.

Now, this doesn't mean they're guilty, but it is certainly enough to raise eyebrows and warrant an investigation.

Honestly it is probably by mere coincidence that those things fall into place like that. I would agree that it does warrant investigation but I doubt they will find anything.

Sounds like normal market competition to me. You would need far more damning evidence for this to stick

Have you even taken a high school economics class? Or did you just sleep through all of it? That sounds like a competitive market, which is what performance video cards is.

Well of course. Beating eggs or other binding agents into ground meat makes a huge difference. And some cheap meat can be made a lot better by tenderizing it.
