  1. What are the differences? I have Asus P4P800 SE
  2. If $450 is not a problem for your new lcd, you should really look into the Samsung 172X that I mentioned above. Basic specs to look for: Response time (16ms or 12ms would be best), Contrast Ratio (450-500 would be best), and DVI input (for a little future proof). I personally don't like the Dell UltraSharps even though they are high quality also. I wouldn't mind the 25ms response time if Dell sells it cheap. Just my 2 cents.
  3. This is my recommendation: Work Harder and get a better LCD, you usually get what you pay for. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-006-077&depa=1 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-006-080&depa=1 Take advantage of the mail in rebate, I bought one two months ago for $419+tax edit: What's going on with these mail in rebates? Why weren't they there when I bought my LCD? lol http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc....-001-146&DEPA=1 I would definitely buy this samsung over the my Sony S74.
  4. Can I connect a DVD burner into a Ultra DMA 100/66 slot? I am trying to avoid having a DVD-rom and a DVD-burner connected into one slot via one cable. (ie. a master and a slave) So I want to use the UDMA 100/66 slot (blue) for my new burner. (ie. a primary master and a secondary master) Before I fry my new burner or mobo. Could this work?
  5. Yeah this Thermaltake Tsunami has exceeded my expectation, the two 120mm fans move a lot of air. (I installed arctic silver 5 and this case at the same time, and cpu temp immediately dropped 4 degree, mobo temp immediately dropped 3 degree, all measured with the same room temp) One down side is that they are a bit loud for my taste. Which is the reason why I want a fan controller. I have the black one with side window. So I prefer black bezel for my fan controller. A beautiful, stunning case. I would recommend modding the front door clips with magnets. (sort of like the cooler master wave master)
  6. and I need a fan controller. I noticed the gap between the door and drive bezel is pretty narrow. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this particular case with installing fan controllers. Which one to get? Thanks.
  7. thanks for the replies, I re-benched both setup with SisSandra and found a 5% increase in bandwidth with Memory Acceleration Mode enabled (2.5, 3, 3, 6).
  8. basically I have two choices: 1. 2, 3, 3, 6 with stock voltage without Memory Acceleration Mode. 2. 2.5, 3, 3, 6 WITH Memory Acceleration mode. Which one would be better? I did bench mark both, but the numbers were dead heat. Although I believe the lower Latency should be better.
  9. Currently I am using Corsair XMS3200C2 in dual channel. Although Corsair rates these two sticks at 2 3 3 6, I am not able to run these latencies WITH "Memory Acceleration Mode" enabled. Currently it's running 2.5, 3, 3, 6 with MAM enabled. Anyone know how I can get the most out of my i865pe chipsets and Corsair XMS sticks? any help/opinion would be appreciated. thanks. 10. I have a P4P800SE. There is an option in BIOS that allows 32-bit transfer rate. The default is set to be disabled. Should I enable this option? What is the difference? Thanks Any help/opinion would be appreciated. Thanks. Intel 2.8C Asus P4P800 SE Corsair XMS-3200C2 1gig in Dual channel Western Digital SATA WD1600JD ATI Radeon All in Wonder 9600XT
  11. I'd go with P4P800 SE which is around your budget. Rock solid board with 865pe and ich5r, it also features asus' unique "memory acceleration mode". I got one around 2 months ago and I am loving it.
  12. Asus P4P800 SE with intel 2.8c and 1 gig kingstone value ram. It's my second project, I love it.
  13. Thanks Bigred 3 days ago we actually put the mobo on the "foam" and tested other parts. We used a working ram, a working graphic card, and yes the 12v/4pin plug was hooked up. Then we place a scerw driver on the PWSW pins, but still the monitor won't pick up any signal. (cpu fan spins) Good news is that the retailer said we could get an exchange for the motherboard if we think the mobo is the problem. Now I just have to make sure my cpu is working. Question: what are symptoms of a fried cpu? physical traits? (because I have no other system to test my cpu) btw, these are what I am working with asus p4p800 se (http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4p800se/overview.htm) pentium 4 2.4 gig 533 micron pc3200 512 mb (for sure working) nvidia 64mb sdram MX420 (for sure working) 450w power supply. (for sure working)
