  4. Thanks for the links ExRoadie - I actually used your first link for the last attempt and will try the second next however my hopes are fading as this is a NO POST and not a NO BOOT situation. Here's hoping!! EDIT: I wish! OverPAQ'd
  5. 6. Thanks Kamykazie, it's currently plug and battery out with jumper clearing CMOS. I'll let it go for another half an hour to make sure (1 hour) and when I try to post I'll only put 1 stick of ram in as you suggested. OverPAQ'd
  7. Yeah XP was loaded along with latest drivers etc... Board is brand new, and will not post at all following flash. As I type I'm letting it do a one hour clear CMOS (jumper and no battery) in the hope it will come back to life! And no it won't even post in BIOS! (I get a single post beep as if all is normal and thats all nothing on screen at all - let alone boot into XP! OverPAQ'd
  8. Just put together my new rig yesterday with the hardware in my SIG, downloaded Bios CK8UD301.exe from DFI site which self loaded to floppy as it should. Rebooted and bios updated as expected - hit F1 to complete and since then box will not post!! Can anyone help, is this reversable?, or should I send the bloody board and FDD back to the shop for RMA. (Other side of the Country I might add) Has this happened before Angry Games? Any help most appreciated OverPAQ'd (Folding Addict)
  9. Thanks Bishop Yeah I just checked and my psu is only 200W (sad ) Will the mobo change actually work without losing any HDD data? Compaq have their own bios partitioned and all my OS is oem so no discs!! I just searched and DFI NF II sounds good but I need uATX and DFI don' have 1. Thought Asus A7N8X-VM/400 but it only takes max PC2700. Thoughts?? Regards OverPAQ'd in Ozzi PS: The idea of all this is to get my XP2600 Barton to about 2.2G instead of its currently sad 1.6. Do they push any higher than 2.2 on standard air cooling? B)
  10. Hi everybody, just new yesterday. Can anybody guide me on upgrading my mobo (Presario) Is it possible or will I have to reload everything? Compaq has partitioned bios and XP etc is all oem, and my rig is O/C'd to its FSB max. Any assistance or forum links would be greatly appreciated. Check my PC in signature. Thanks in advanced to any respondents OverPAQ'd in Ozzi! B)
  11. Sorry to interject people, but I was wondering if anybody has had any dealings with changing the mobo in a proprietry computer, or knows of any forums I may read. I am hoping to upgrade my Compaq if it is possible. My main concern is obviously OS and data. FSB limit of mobo is throttling my cpu and ram and i'm all O/C'd out. My first post here. Many thanks to any respondents. Overpaq'd in OZ.
