Andrewr05 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Seems like a pretty nice card, I've always liked the different non-reference designs that companies come up with too.
IVIYTH0S Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 WOW that cooler is amazing!! It was strange that the ASUS 6850 beat it overclocked even though it didn't get as high

RealNeil Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 CON: "Would Not Flash to 6970" How many cards on the market still do the flash to 6970 with any regularity? I had heard that steps would be taken to prevent it from being successful.
Bosco Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Right now it just seems to be luck of the draw. My buddy just bought 4 cards here last week 2 of the 4 flashed.
Redspeed93 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Right now it just seems to be luck of the draw. My buddy just bought 4 cards here last week 2 of the 4 flashed. It's not luck. It depends on when they are produced, For sapphire and xfx cards at least any cards produced before may will flash but those produced after will not because they are laser cut, which apparently makes them unable to flash to 6970. Of course its luck, do you think you get to choose the card you get to buy online based on the date it was made But ya as you said the date makes sense. That seems to be how it always is, as soon as they find out they make a revision change

The faulty ones get some SPs disabled and are sold as HD6950s whereas the functional ones are HD6970s or HD6950s. The ones you're aiming at are the latter.
