More RAM!

Recommended Posts

Par, since you are retiring your current memory, you should be looking at a decent triple channel memory kit. No sense in crippling the 1366 platform with dual channel memory (two sticks).

The Corsair memory you picked is fine except that it is only two sticks, and you'll need a minimum of three to keep your triple channel functionality.

So (based on Price, Popularity and Customer Feedback);

G.Skill Ripjaws 3x4Gb

$64.99 + free shipping

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 3x4Gb

$64.99 + free shipping

Corsair Vengence 3x4Gb

$64.99 + free shipping

Kingston HyperX 3x4Gb

$62.99 + free shipping

Maybe OP was thinking about tripling the order quantity?? 3x(2x8GB)??

Interestingly enough triple channel kits are still overpriced (and I still made on on the sweet $60 I paid for my 3x4GB kit of Patriot memory)

The only problem I see with moving into the next set of memory banks is that your memory latency will increase slightly (i.e. going from populating 3 dimm slots to populating 4 dimm slots). However it won't affect your day to day experience whatsoever. And, this may not happen on every motherboard, I just found it on the 1366 boards I've personally used.

Haha. Nice. I read some problems with overclocks when adding 32 Gb. Maybe I should only add 4 x 4 Gb= 16Gb.

Or do what I did, and drop in 3 sticks of 4GB and have 18GB
