  1. These days unless you building a work or gaming computer you can't beat a pre-built. they are just so much cheaper and will last a few years. Yep, 2 year mcftr warranty for $43 through wal mart as well. They will go for easy hits on dumb buyers. Like charging $100 more for an upgrade from 500GB to 1TB hard drive.. So I can see where they are making the money.
  2. Those are great suggestions!! Bought an i3 prebuilt from walmart for $500, for my mom's cpu. Will be continuing the process for the other 2. thanks for your help.
  3. thanks for the explanation on the cpu/gpu integration. i don't see myself doing a build < 8GB ram. It's too cheap not too.. kyfire you build gave me so many good ideas. thanks!!
  4. Fail. Wal-mart had 3 boxes. 2 Celerons and an i3 (possible).
  5. Heading to Walmart in about 5 minutes, as soon as I get off work. Can anyone clarify the difference between the new AMD processors (those which have built in GPU and those which do not). I think that is what is confusing me with the product line. Once I have AMD figured out, I'll switch over to Intel to figure out their product line.
  6. I will definitely consider Intel for my gamer build. For my parents I don't know as it would ne necessary. For my mom's internet machine, I'm thinking ASUS F2A85-M2 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard $ AMD A10-6800K Richland 4.1GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop Processor - Black Edition AMD Radeon HD 8670D Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL $79 CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W
  7. The version he uses cs2, video editing is done in windows movie maker, already have monitors, already have a copy of windows.
  8. Build 1: Mid-High End. AMD. Budget $750. Will be using 2 monitors, CS:GO, TFC, Photoshop, Video Editing, Programming, I always feel bad making someone do the resesarch for me...I know I could find the information myself, but it has been 3 years since I built a box, and it's taking me forever to wrap my head around the new chipsets, and socket types. I usually go AMD for price per formance, so I'd like to stick with that. Basically my build is Build 1. Build 2 is for my mom, she does nothing but internet, and load pictures from her Nikon. Picasa, etc..Build3 is for my dad, he does e-mail and spends countless hours on photoshop, and always complains because his tools lag in photoshop. He's still on an 2005 AMD chip I forget the model. Budget would be determined by needs stated. Any help would be appreciated. I'm going to continue to research, see if I can figure out the sweet spot for AMD processors, RAM, Video Cards. Help!!
  9. IN specificity to the dish wash soap topic. You could use a wash and wax product that has Carnuaba in it to wash your car. It's like why not use the product designed for the purpose. You get a lot more out of your wash at the same time. I'd guess that a gentle dish soap still takes life off the paint for someone who is just washing the car. I can just hear the paint saying "No, don't eat away at me, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaseeeee." haha
  10. wevvspot you're right about the technique you are using and the frequency of the waxing. I know for a fact the damage that can be done to black cars. Once, I scratched up a Black Bentley by using a microfiber towel that had some crap on it. Some paints are just very finicky. It really depends on the color. A lot of the new cars today use multiple layers of paint and kind of a sparklish tone, and this really help disguise irregularities in the finish. Anyways, using an orbital buffer can really make your car look good. If you keep the speeds below 1100rpm, so the paint doesn't get hot, you don't have to worry about swirls. Compounding can bring a paint back to life. Followed by a coat of wax it will really shine. This is just my experience, but yes my car is swirled to hell from practice.
  11. I wouldn't touch my car with any brand of dish soap. If you want to remove the wax then use a light rubbing compound and READ the instructions. I've worked at a car detailing shop for 7 years and we use all of this guy's products. Frenzy Wax
  12. Use a Cleaner wax, or even a spray wax. Follow the directions on the bottle.
  13. Washing your car with Palmolive dish soap....shame.
  14. Powercolor sent me my rebate twice once. It was only a $10 but that was cool. ECS honored theirs, also ASUS. But this bring me to a point. Asus now uses a "Gift Card" which is very sneaky. Why?? because there is practically no way to use up all the money on the card down to under 50cents balance. So for all the rebates they are sending out I'm sure they are saving an elephant's load of money. Just sayin'
  15. After rebuilding my Mom's computer LASTNIGHT, I was left with a slew of crap. Crap like a Socket A motherboard and an AMD Sempron 1.6ghz processor. Stuff that's not worth anything to anyone. So I took all of it, put it in a brown grocer bag and through it in the trash. The only thing I saved was some old DDR pc3200 ram. I just felt so good to remove all the mess. So my question is, who actually recycles computer STUFF?
