On board video should be fine if you're only going to do video playback. Also the sound controller in the motherboard should be sufficient since it's much better then the crappy on board sound controller used to be, also AFAIK there's no soundcard that fits snugly inside a m-ATX case.. Yes Llano is cheaper and since you won't really need much processing power, you could just get an A6 APU + A75 board... Just replace the board and CPU that TJ gave with these: ASUS F1A75-M AMD A6-3500 APU and probably change the RAM to these Samsung LP RAMs for less. I have heard some off the wall rumors that the discrete GPU will support 3D, but last I checked, that was not confirmed. The thing you have to understand with AMD at the moment is you either buy old stuff, or you buy new crappy stuff and stupid prices. The i3 2100 can be bought at about 110 (since they always seem to have a sale on them) dollars, and for the same price you can get the AMD 4100. The biggest difference that will impact you (since CPU speed doesn't truly matter for you) is power consumption. The AMD 4100 is a 95 w chip. When I first saw this I thought AMD deserved a big fat . The intel i3 on the other hand is only 65 w which means it will run a lot cooler and quieter. Since you are building a pc in a practical hot box, the i3 will be a MUCH better fit. The only reason I am not going with the APU is because I do not believe it runs 3d at the moment (correct me if I am wrong). If it did, then build an APU system, but there is no sense in paying a premium for an APU when you would need a seperate graphics card. The only thing I am having trouble with this build is the motherboard. I can not find a cheaper motherboard with the same expansion capabilities. The CPU is fine (as long as you can't wait) it is the mobo that needs tweaking. You misunderstand, it is not the CPU that will play 3D """""""""""YET"""""""""""" but rather the GPU. The one I linked you, the 7750 should be able to play 3D movies all day long. I was saying that it is possible that upcoming APUs could support 3d movies. Now just in case you do not understand, and APU is a CPU and a small GPU combined on a single chip. Right now that small GPU is really cool, but it isn't as good as it could be if they use the new GPU chips that just came out a month ago. Supposedly the graphics will improve tremendously with AMD's upcoming trinity chip. It is entirely possible that it will be able to support 3D in which case you won't have to spend another 130 for a video card just to have that feature which is obviously really nice. Now you should also know that the upcoming Ivy Bridge CPUs will support 3D movies without the need of a dedicated GPU. This probably means that AMD trinity will have 3D just so that they can combat intel. But who really knows, AMD has been known to drop the ball before Basically, what you should take away from this little message is that if you wait a bit ivy bridge should be out in a few weeks to a month which sucks, but you would save the money on the GPU. If you wait for Ivy bridge (which you should IMHO) you will be using such low volts that there will no issue with using a passive cooling heatsink. Not to meantion that since you are only watching movies, your CPU will only be under a max of 10 percent load. You will have NO heat issues with a passive cooler. Even if you don't want to wait, and get the i3 2105T you will still be fine, but I would keep an eye out for how close the GPU will sit to the heat sink. Entirely fanless should you need to fill up the side of that milo case with fans. Edit: you didn't recomend a fanless PSU?
