Power Supply Questions

Recommended Posts

Im in the market for a new power supply.

I was looking at the Enermax EMG700AWT MODU87+ 700W Power Supply. l can get this for 168 from a local suppler.

This will be my 4th enermax and l had no problems with them at all. My buddy just got a XFX power supply and he said its better as it uses seasonic guts. I have never used or know of anyone with a seasonic power supply of XFX. As he said they where the best. I think Enermax is the best.

What do you guys think?

Both are good units, though with the recent horror stories [past 5 months or so] of the XFX RMA system, I'd stick with the Enermax just because.

Even if it's slightly worse, having the piece of mind that Enermax will cover you without hassle is worth a loss in 1 or 2% efficiency ;)

I've dealt with Enermax's RMA, while the method is aesthetically archaic [their RMA site looked ancient lol], they offered off the bat to cover shipping, 2 day prepaid fedex... and within that same week my brother had his 600w back in gear, those guys are crazy good ^^

5 day turn around is what more companies should strive for :P

XFX makes a fine power supply.

Seasonic makes a fine power supply.

Enermax makes a fine power supply.

I don't think you could go wrong either way.

Other brands I'm particularly loyal to;

Corsair (my number 1 go to brand for myself and recommend to others)

PC Power & Cooling

Silverstone

Antec

Well im not worried about RMA for enermax that much as "if" it blows its under 5 years warranty, and its always good to know that they are fast.

Im just wondering if Seasonic is that good? or even XFX?

I use to go with Corsair but l have had 2 ram kits fail and it took 1 month for 1 kit and 2 months for the other kit for the RMA. I had 1 friend who had a Corsair PSU and it failed after 2 years.

PC Cooling l have seen tons of them fail at the shop l use to work at. Same with Antec :-(. They use to be good but l have noticed they have gone down hill over the past 5 years.

Never used or seen a Silverstone

I was looking at a OCZ but for under 100 bucks for a 750w. Makes me wonder the quality inside there PSU. Ram Great stuff. SSD Great stuff, PSU unsure about.
